A To Z: J is for Jubilee

Hey friends! It's Thursday, so that means it's A to Z day, yaaayy!

I have been looking forward to this week's manicure for ages. I chose Nails Inc "Jubilee", a silver, red, and blue glitter polish which was realeased to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2012. As you will just about be able to see in my final photograph, it came with Nails Inc's special crystal cap.

I am sad to say my bottle of Jubilee has gone bad, so very bad. The base has almost entirely evaporated, leaving a thick, gluey, clumpy mess of glitter. It was so difficult to apply, and even after extensive clean-up this is still one of the messiest manicures I have ever let loose on the internets, but I just can't be bothered to faff any more or change it. So, here are two impossibly difficult coats of Nails Inc "Jubilee" and two very thick coats of top coat:

Glitter everywhere!!

Despite the trouble I encountered with Jubilee, I am actually really happy with the finished look. It is so sparkly and spangly! Probably not best suited to a rainy Thursday afternoon but who gives a fluff? I don't!!

A To Z: I is for Ink.... And Iceblue Cream!

Hello my little dearlings! It's Thursday so it's A to Z Blog Series day (I know, I skipped last week - we all got a little out of synch with our posts due to all sorts of reasons but we're back on track now). We have reached the letter I this week, so let's get to it!

For this manicure I chose not one but two I polishes. OPI "Ink (Suede)" which is a matte version of OPI "Ink", and LaFemme "Iceblue Cream" which is a lovely pastel blue shade.

I started with two coats of Ink:

And then I stamped an image from Pueen plate 33 with LaFemme "Iceblue Cream", and applied a layer of matte top coat to mattify the stamping:

Dollish Polish "The Deathly Hallows" NOTD

Hey everybody! Just a quick NOTD post today, featuring one of my new Dollish Polish babies, "The Deathly Hallows".

We'll start off with my base colour. I chose Nails Inc "Chelsea Physic Garden", a sky blue creme which appears greener in my photographs than it is in reality, and applied two coats (and posed with the bracelet I am wearing today!):

Then I applied two coats of The Deathly Hallows, a clear based glitter topper with fine scattered holographic glitter, silver holographic strands and triangles, and plain silver "doughnuts", and finished with top coat:

Moyra Vivid Sand No. 713 "Sunflower"

Hi lovers, happy Saturday! Last weekend Mama Bean and I treated ourselves to a few pretties from Moyra UK's 30% off event, and today I am going to show you my stand-out favourite of the three I bought.

713/"Sunflower" is a textured polish with added sparkly bits in the most ridiculously bright, luminous yellow shade - the colour of neon yellow highlighter pens - and I absolutely love it!! Application was easy peasy - it stayed exactly where I put it, with the only clean-up being necessary thanks to a shaky-hand moment on my little finger. Dry time is pretty average, but it takes a while for the textured effect to fully 'mature'. I applied two coats with no base coat and no top coat, in order to achieve the maximum textured effect. If you are uncomfortable not wearing a base coat, it doesn't make too much of a difference, but without it dries just that little bit more matte, which is how I like my textured polishes. Finish-wise, it actually looks rougher than it feels. Some textured polishes really get on my nerves because thy are just too coarse and harsh to touch, but so far, whilst it obviously doesn't feel smooth to the touch, this one has been perfectly easy to live with.

Picture time! As mentioned, they all show two coats, with no base or top coat. My camera can't handle this colour - in reality it is even more neon-bright with more acidic, green tones:

What do you think of this shade? Do you own any Moyra polishes? All the ones I have so far are great quality, and £3.00 for a 12ml bottle is like pocket money prices to me!

A To Z: H is for "Holland Park Gardens"

Hello friends, happy Friday!

I am a little late with my A to Z post this week, sorry! We are on the letter H this week, so I have chosen Nails Inc "Holland Park Gardens", a very pale, sage green creme - the kind of colour I fall head over in heels in love with!

Here are two coats, without top coat:

And to finish, I applied two coats of Ninja Polish "Sticks 'N Stones", and top coat:

Holographic Skittle Manicure

Hi everybody! It's "Skittle Manicure" theme week at All Things Nails this week, which means a different colour on every nail (I'm sure there are other versions/definitions of a Skittle manicure, but this is what it means to us).

I decided to show you at least one of my contributions, so here you go! I started by applying five different holographic polishes. They are, in order from thumb to little finger: Dance Legend "Android" (green); Color Club "Eternal Beauty" (purple); Dance Legend "Shock" (pink); Layla "Ocean Rush" (blue); and Layla "Gold Idol" (gold/green). Pictures show two coats of each, without top coat:

To finish this look, I added some dots with a dotting tool, using Color Club "Harp On It". Again, pictures are all without top coat:

What do you think? I don't often do this kind of manicure, but I am really enjoying having the opportunity to wear so many different colours!
